WHO IS IT FOR?

The audience is freelancers working within the creative industries and students looking to enter the creative industries.

WHY

To inform, educate and inspire

As a professionally trained performer I had to learn all about marketing myself and running a business through trial and error – this wasn’t covered in any of my extensive training. I also had terrible financial literacy.

I want to empower creatives at the beginning of their career to build strong foundations on which to sustain decades in the industry.
No one can create art if they are worried about how to pay their bills.

OUTCOMES

This event is designed to build a creative community.
This workshop will have experts present on their topic, offer ways to connect within the creative community and foster a path to building sustainable business opportunities.

The topics include:

Personal Finance 101
Marketing 101
Maximising Tax
Strategy and Content

Tahyna Tozzi

Director, writer and producer
What does success
look like Panel.

Tahyna Tozzi MacManus is an Australian director, writer, and producer who began her career as an actress, appearing in popular television series including Blue Water High, CSI, and Charlie’s Angels, as well as feature films such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Ever After.

Moving behind the camera, she has since focused on socially driven storytelling with an emphasis on gender parity.

Her narrative directorial debut, OREN, toured the international festival circuit and won Best International Film at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival.

Since then, she has worked extensively across film, television, and advertising. In 2020, she released her debut documentary feature, MuM: Misunderstandings of Miscarriage, which garnered critical and audience acclaim. The film premiered on STAN Australia, followed by a release on Netflix, and continues to screen worldwide, helping to dismantle the shame and stigma surrounding pregnancy loss.

In addition, she is the co-founder of the all-female-led production company Neon Jane, alongside producer Kelly Tomasich, and co-director of the Australian Women’s Film Festival. A festival dedicated to celebrating Australian women in film and honouring those who have made significant contributions to the industry.

Most recently, she served as Head of Content and Community for 36 Months, a movement founded by radio personality Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli and FINCH CEO Rob Galluzzo, which successfully campaigned for legislative change to raise the minimum age of social media citizenship from 13 to 16.

Tahyna’s second documentary feature, ABBA & ELVIS in the Outback, released in 2025 on SBS Australia and debuted as the number one documentary program on the scheduled broadcast date. It has since been acquired by ABC International for distribution worldwide.

Alison Dean
Marketing Director

The Peppermint Group

Harnessing Marketing fundamentals to get clear on your brand.

Alison Dean is a Fractional CMO, Marketing Director, and Founder of The Peppermint Group, bringing close to 20 years of hands‑on marketing, brand and communications experience to SMEs, not‑for‑profits and experience‑driven brands.
In 2006, she launched The High Tea Party—a national, five‑star consumer event platform designed as “a day out with the girls,” not just another expo.

Over more than a decade she scaled it across six Australian capital cities, selling thousands of tickets each weekend and partnering with brands like BMW, Revlon, KitchenAid, Royal Albert and more. The business was later acquired by Bauer Media (now Are Media).

Since then, Alison has shifted her focus to strategy‑first advisory as a Fractional CMO. She works with founder‑led and creative businesses that are overwhelmed by marketing “shoulds,” helping them:

  • Get clear on who they are and who they’re really for
  • Build simple, powerful brand and messaging foundations
  • Turn that strategy into practical content, campaigns, and customer journeys their teams can actually run

Known for her warm, no‑jargon style, Alison blends creative thinking with commercial reality. Her goal is to make marketing feel human, sustainable, and effective—so business owners can do more of the work they love, supported by a brand and strategy that finally fit.
